Yelverton Golf Club hosted its Ryder Cup style event, the Brian Bounsall Trophy, last weekend.

The competition sees various formats of competitive golf played over three rounds by the lower handicap players from each respective club. The clubs involved were Tavistock, Staddon Heights, Elfordleigh and Yelverton.

After a hard-fought weekend, Tavistock came out on top, with Yelverton runners up on their home course.

The individual competition was won by Mark Harrington of Yelverton, with an amazing score of 64 gross, which equalled the amateur course record.

The next best score on the day was George Gawman of Tavistock with 74 gross. This course record has now been achieved five times at Yelverton.

Saturday four ball scores: Tavistock 12.5 points, Yelverton 11.5 points, Elfordleigh 8.5 points, Staddon Heights 7.5 points.

Sunday morning foursomes: Tavistock 14 points, Staddon Heights 11 points, Yelverton 10 points, Elfordleigh 5 points.

Sunday afternoon singles: Yelverton 23 points, Tavistock 22.5 points, Staddon Heights 17.5 points, Elfordleigh 17 points.

Overall: Tavistock 49 points, Yelverton 44.5 points, Staddon Heights 36 points, Elfordleigh 30.5 points.
