NO less than 132 players took part in Tavistock Golf Club’s popular Mixed Team event - after all the heavy rain the sun shone much to the relief of the lady captain. 

Topping the leader board with 82 points were Nick Redman (Bovey Castle), Abigail Turner (Okehampton), Ben and Deborah Moore (Exeter).

In second place Trevor and Margaret Smith  (Sparkwell), Liz and Dave Collier (Staddon Heights) with 80pts.  The team from Bude John and Shirley Percy, Mark Taylor and Hana Dubrowski were third with 79pts. 

Taking fourth place from Tavistock Dave and Peggy Burge, Rod and Maggie Hillman with 78pts.  

The best visitor team not in the prizes were Teresa Metters, Olga Lidbury, Paul McGlinchy and Adrian Metters also from Stover with 77pts.  

The ladies nearest the pin on the seventh: Amanda Milverton (Dainton Park).  The men’s nearest the pin on the 10th: Danny Long (Bude).

The annual match between Tavistock, Okehampton, Wrangaton, Yelverton and Teign Valley for the Dartmoor Pony Trophy was played in torrential rain. 

Teams struggled round the course before they were called in and it was then agreed that only the scores for the first four holes would be counted.  Tavistock with 56 pts won the trophy and Teign Valley and Okehampton tied for second place with 46 pts.   

Tavistock Juniors had an excellent win beating Boringdon 3-2 at Yelverton to become winners of the West Devon League Champions Cup. They now qualify for the Henry Truscott Cup representing West Devon against the winners of the South, North  and East Devon leagues.

In the ladies’ Withington Bowl in division one Dawn Dennis was first with nett 75 to win the bowl.  Second in the division Lynn Swift nett 78, third Sarah Hanson nett 79.  First in division one Jean Thomas nett 77, second Jenny Kay nett 79 and third Marion Stenhouse nett 81.
