ON Monday a successful seniors’ open was held at Okehampton Golf Club, with players representing 20 different clubs.

The overall winners were A Burton, P Jeffrey and S Baker of Vivary Park Golf Club with 72 points after countback; in second place were Bob Collett, Clive Yeo and R Piper (Okehampton).

Best visitor prize was won by R Stevens, J Maynard and P Durbin (Fingle Glen) with 70 points and the best combination prize went to Adrian Tilley, Richard Johnson and Steve Blackmuir (Okehampton/Ashbury) with 69 points.

On Saturday in excellent conditions a large field entered the mens’ four ball better ball open competition. The overall winners with 47 points were club captain Rod Jones and Phillip Hawking and second overall were Alan Stokes and John Soutar (Okehampton/ Yelverton) with 45pts after count back.

Best visitor prize was awarded to Tim Greenslade and Danny Knight (Downes Crediton) with 42pts and the best combination prize was won by Allen Deakin and Richard Union (Okehampton/Teign Valley) with 42pts.
