THE Tavistock Golf Ladies’ three ball better ball open, always a popular event, attracted a full field. 

This year’s winners were the Staddon/Boringdon team Sam Avens, Liz Emerton and M Marsland  with 85 points, second with 82pts were Tavistock’s Elaine Cooper, Sally Timpson and Margaret Burn.   

The Tavistock/China Fleet team Dawn Phillott, Hilary Picton and Karen Whitby took third place with 77pts.  Fourth with 75pts were Belinda McSherry, Fiona Lovell and Gilly Jarvis from Tavistock/Yelverton.  Libbaton’s team Annie Sinclair, Angela Baker and Paula Willsmore were fifth with 74 pts on countback Tavistock’s Sue Coles, Bridget Luckham and Lynn Swift. Nearest the on the 7th: Sue Vicary, Saunton.  Nearest the pin in two on the 14th: Dawn Dennis, Tavistock.

In the men veterans Jim Spackman Trophy Graham Dennis took the honours with 41pts and second Ian Rose 39 pts.  There were five players with 38pts but Rob Score took third place.
