It was ‘3G Florida Style’ for the ‘Presidents Day’ with loads of fun and sun with golfers competing in a Florida scramble format. There were 141 entries for this team scramble competition which is also known as a Mexican standoff or step-aside.

A brilliant display from the Yelverton pairing of Kate Wright and Rosamund Kikidas saw them through to the gift round of the Daily Mail foursomes. They came up against a talented lady pairing from St Enodoc who took them to the 18th. The pair will play against St Ives in the next round.
In the Sheelah Creasy Bowl division five ladies league match (handicaps 21-36) Yelverton competed closely against home side Royal North Devon. The Westward Ho! side came out on top but only just by 4-3 in this singles matchplay competition.
Caitlin Evans-Brand is moving to Florida to become a Wildcat. After a glittering golfing career as a junior at Yelverton Golf Club and a Welsh Junior International she has signed for Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Florida (Wildcats).
Caitlin seeks to gain valuable experience in America following her recent Devon ladies title win. The club wish Caitlin good luck.
Adam Frayne, head professional at Yelverton GC, shot a one under 71 on the Championship course at St Mellion Pro-Am event to take a worthy second place.
Home grown professional Ryan Fricker took second place with a two under score of 68 at Burnham Beeches in a TP Tour series event while Bill Perkins took top spot in this mid week stableford competition at Yelverton.

The veterans three ball Stableford on June 20 was won by Tim Douglas-Riley, Tony Williams and Colin Brown on 79pts; second were Nick Ring, Andy Young and Bob Carwithen on 75pts and third Noel Preston-Jones, Peter Wright and John Adams on 74 pts. Peter Adams was the only person with two shots on a hole.
