AT 5.15am on a very wet, dark and windy morning 10 Tavistock Golf Club men braved the elements to play in a ‘relay race’ all in the name of charity!

The ‘relay’ was a variation  of the foursome format and the team played 125 holes to mark the  Club’s 125th anniversary. The event was sponsored by members to raise money for the captain’s charities.  To date more than £300 has been raised with more to come so their soaking was well worth it!

Always a very closely fought competition is the men’s Club Championship played over two consecutive days.

This year’s club champion is Adam Bridgewater who scored a gross 137 over the 36 holes beating runner up Paul Crump by seven shots.  This was a special win for Adam has he has now won back to back championships.  Winner of the  David Walls Trophy for the best net score over the two days was Kevin Quick with a net 134.

Scoring was tight in all three divisions of ladies’ Stableford. First in division one was Bridget Luckham with 36 points on countback from Bev Ruth, Elaine Cooper and Maggie Hillman.  Topping division two was Margot Angel with 36pts, on count back from Hazel Cash and June Kendall.  Janet Kieley with 37pts was first in division three, second Myra Sussex 36 pts on count back from Val Jarman.
