EIGHTY-four lady golfers from all over Devon and Cornwall descended on Yelverton Golf Club to take part in a tharee ball better ball competition. Heat, sun cream and drinking water was in plentiful supply as the golfers tirelessly made their way around the moorland course. It was the Perranporth GC ladies, with a fabulous score of 85 points who took the spoils by seven points from their nearest rivals. Yelverton ladies figured in the top four, adding to the success of the day.

Head Yelverton professional Adam Frayne blew the field away at the Carlyon Bay Pro-Am this week with a new course record 63. Adam notched up four eagles and three birdies to win by four shots and also helped his team to finish in third place.
This week saw the return Plymouth Area League (PAL) match between Wrangaton and Yelverton. Both sides fielding strong sides in this four-ball match play competition played in 26C temperatures at the part moorland part parkland Wrangaton course. A win for Wrangaton in the last pairing secured a drawn fixture and a fair reflection of the high standard of golf played by both sides.

Yelverton ladies played their qualifying greensomes matches this week for the Warren Crocus, a competition that is held in the autumn at the Warren Golf Club, Dawlish. Representing Yelverton in this event will be, bronze division Sheila Lang and Sue Rumbold; silver division, Teresa Holt and Mair Preston-Jones.
The ‘Mid-week’ Stableford this week had a clear winner; 1, A Clitheroe 39 pts, 2, P Millar 36pts, 3, J Lucas 34pts.
This week’s veterans’ competition was a Texas Scramble where a selected shot is chosen for the next shot position for each team member. Result; 1, Bill Ednie, S. Sud, Ray Curran 58.1; 2, Tim Douglas-Riley, David Parlby, Colin Stockman 61.0; 3, Nick Ring, Paul Isaac, Kevin Vince 61.3.
