GOLF B, who are normally accustomed to being on the wrong end of a ‘hiding’ in the Tavistock Snooker League, dished out a bit of it themselves this week with their biggest ever win, 4-1 over West Devon D.
Dee started the ball rolling as he held his nerve to take out WD D’s Williams on the black ball.
West Devon A did have a brief glimmer of hope as Shrimpton (junior) pulled them level in a close one with Congo, only for Golf A’s Gawman to reassert their authority as he overcame West Devon’s Decieco.
Treble secured the match for Golf A with a composed performance against WD A’s skipper Murton, all be it in a tense affair.
Appleton then put the shine on the Golf A evening with a solid win over Shrimpton (senior) to allow his team to end the evening with beaming smiles on their faces. It was a superb victory by Golf B.
Conservative A encountered little or no meaningful resistance as they rolled out a ‘max five’ win against West Devon B.
Wiles (21) and Carruthers (42) soon had Con A two up, with Evans on his return from injury making it three as he soon slipped back into his normal slick rhythm.
The four came with Babb (8) taking no prisoners and punishing some frequent loose play from West Devon’s Smith, as he saw the frame out with his normal clinical potting.
The fifth frame for Con A came from Boulton who with a classy 46 break looked like he was going to ‘steamroller’ Hooper. Credit to Hooper though, with some thoughtful safety, and picking off balls here and there, he took Boulton down to the colours before Boulton killed the frame off.
