TAVISTOCK Athletic Club is busy preparing for the Tavy 13 half marathon, which takes place on Sunday, March 30.

The route follows a scenic tour of Tavistock town, Devon's leafy lanes and cycle track before returning on road for a final circuit of the community athletic track.

The event is sponsored by estate agents by Gibbs Kirbys, who together with the Athletic Club are anxious to see as many runners enjoying the event and taking their place in the run.

Both new and established runners are invited to join members of the club on some friendly training sessions led by running coach Tony Shearer.

Training will be on Sunday morning, leaving from the Guildhall Car Park at 9am using a variety of different routes to add interest. The runs will steadily increase in length, building on people's confidence and ability, ultimately leading to the completion of the half marathon.

TAC is a friendly club and new runners are always warmly welcomed. It meets at Tavistock College at 6.15pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
