AT Tavistock Golf Club the annual Roland Bailey Trophy competition was, once again, well supported.
The trophy is given by his daughter Pat Hoar in memory of her father, a past Tavistock Golf Club captain and a well known Tavistock business man.
The winners of the trophy were George and Nicky Gawman with 45 pts. Runners up were Emmy Hoyte (the great granddaughter of Roland Bailey) and Mark Baker with a score of 43 pts.
Third were Mike and Jennie Roe with 42 pts.
In the men Vets Medal Trophy Tony Westacott had an excellent score of nett 66, second was Mike Coles nett 73 and, in the third place, was John Harding with nett 74.
The Lady Vets played their qualifying round in the DCVLGA Killard Leavey Foursomes.
The winning pair were Sharon Williams and Sybil Coles with 27 pts and the runners-up were Ginny Samborne and Jenny Bryant with 25 pts.
Both pairs will represent Tavistock in the final at Sidmouth Golf Club in September.
Tavistock Golf Club's Jayne Wright had a very successful day at the DCLGA County Silver Open held at Woodbury Park Golf Club. Jayne won the Joan Mackenzie Salver for the best overall handicap, was runner up in the Memorial Cup for the best scratch gross score and and topped Division 1!
