Bude 2

Tavistock 3

THE seasonal weather provided a water based pitch, suiting the game giving pace throughout cloud bursts and chilling winds blowing off the Atlantic.

A lively start from both sides showed the desire for the points, Tavistock fielding a fist full of Cowens — father Bob and sons Josh and Olly. From the start Josh led the attack with Dom Stanbury taxing the Bude keeper.

The defensive team of Mingo in goal, George Wood and Cowen kept the Bude forwards at bay while Marchant in the centre took the full force of the physical effort Bude were to throw into this game.

Tavistock had a number of short corners culminating in centre-mid Honey finishing sweetly, giving Tavistock the deserved lead.

Wide receivers of Marcus Woods and Edwards kept the play wide and with penetrating runs and cross-pitch play gave an opening for Edwards to squeeze in the second of the game at narrow angle past the bemused Bude keeper.

However the 2-0 goal lead was not to last long as a lapse in concentration saw Bude come straight back to trail just by one goal at half time.

Early in the second half Bude levelled, pegging from a rather soft chance and Tavistock steel was to be tested.

The half continued at pace with some good short pass play and flow. Defender Wood, taking a high shot off the line from the pressing Bude forwards, inspired the Tavistock side as Edwards saw the incoming Cowen junior who swiftly picked out Honey who left the Bude defence standing as he crisply found the goal from his reverse stick shot.

The game was effectively over and Tavistock took the three points and were off to enjoy their club Christmas dinner.
