Devon and Exeter three

Newton St Cyres 2

SOUTH Zeal's first half formation, not the performance of the players, was the reason for the deficit of 1-0 at half time, as Newton had all the possession with the visitors barely creating a chance.

The goal that put the home side 1-0 up was slightly fortuitous as Oliver Holman in the Zeal goal came out for a 50-50 ball with a Newton striker which resulted in the ball breaking nicely for the attacking player and a simple tap in.

The visitors re-organised in the second half and dominated the possession, however they went two down when a misplaced pass went straight to a Newton forward for another simple tap-in.

South Zeal deservedly reduced the deficit when after a bout of severe pressure on the Newton goal resulted in Harley Cann scoring from inside the goal area.

With 10 minutes left Zeal pressured the home sides defence but the deserved equaliser would not come and Newton survived to claim all three points.
