Tavistock Hockey Club under 10 girls took part in the England Hockey Regional Championships in Bristol on Sunday April 3.

Against 14 of the best teams in the South West, from Penzance through to Bournemouth and Swindon, the event was a significant test for the girls.

In goal, Ava McDowell made some excellent saves, and literally put her body on the line on more than one occasion.

Mabel Maguire and Tiggy Hutchins formed an excellent defensive combination and played in every game with boundless energy and commitment.

In the mid-field, Bea Rainsbury and, team captain, Lillia Pocknell were exceptional in controlling the play, and creating numerous goal scoring opportunities.

On the wings, Phoebe Skelton, Pippa Hasbrig-Hartley and Connie Weaver covered huge amounts of ground to support the team in defense and deliver some really effective attacking phases of play with all three either setting up goals, or scoring them throughout the morning.

In attack, Juno Anderson-Bickley and Isla Newton both showed great technical ability during short corners, and finished off some fantastic team play with determination and skill that resulted in a good number of goals.

By the end of the morning, Tavistock U10 girls notched up four wins and three losses against the best teams in the region. A great result, and a perfect way to end a highly successful season.
