Looe Town U16s 1

Tavistock CFC U16s 5

TAVISTOCK made their intentions clear by fielding an attacking 3-5-2 formation.

From the start Tavistock dominated, and after 15 minutes, their strikers combined with Jack Ashton running down the right and squaring the ball to his Tom Burgess for a simple tap in to make it 1-0.

Minutes later, Harvey Love stormed down the left wing to present Jack Ashton with a tap in to go two up.

This was textbook play from the West Devon team and Tavistock’s third soon followed when Jack Ashton ran into the box and was upended by a clumsy challenge; up stepped Tom for the penalty which was neatly saved, but he followed up to make it 3-0. Another goal soon followed when Burgess went up against the keeper and nodded past him to complete his first half hat-trick and make it 4-0 at the break.

Within five minutes of the restart, Tavistock scored a fifth through another well worked team goal and another neat finish from Jack Aston.

The team kept rotating their squad of 16 players and every player showed why this Tavistock side are hard to beat. Right at the end, Looe’s quick striker scored a consolation goal.

This was one of Tavistock’s best team performances of the season, and while the forwards got all the goals, the midfield were outstanding — Jared, Ryan, Soul, Sam, Errikos, Harvey and Charlie all played their part in this result.

Looe’s strikers were both quick and skillful, but the Tavistock defence of Henry, Sam C, Evan, Jack E, Max and player of the match Sam Abblett, kept them under control while in goal Toby pulled off some outstanding saves.
