University Exeter
ladies 1
Tavistock Community Football Club ladies 4
Tavistock ladies travelled to Exeter University on Sunday knowing that a win could keep them on top of the league.
Both teams started brightly. The university side passed the ball round nicely and showed some good link up play.
Tavistock’s first goal came from a superb through ball from Eleanor Mills- Hicks which was played through to striker Robyn Hammond, who coolly slotted it past the Exeter keeper.
Tavistock’s next was a fine solo effort from Rebecca McMullin, who danced her way past four players before finding the net.
The game flowed from end to end with some lovely football from both sides.
The Tavistock defence of Donna Hone, Chelsea Starbuck,Carleigh Bammons and Tania Coker thwarted any Exeter attacks.
Before half time Tavistock scored another fine goal. This time a pin point cross from Becky Turner met the head of Robyn Hammond for her second of the day.
The second half started differently and Exeter had their best spell of the game scoring one and if not for a superb save from Zoe Stock would of had a second.
The victory was sealed when Jessica Eales went on a fine run down the left wing before setting up player of the match Rebecca McMullin for a long range shot. which sailed into the top corner.
This was a fine team performance from Tavistock ladies against a decent Exeter side.
