TAVISTOCK Specials Diamonds football team earned fourth place at Coach Road, Newton Abbot, in the Special Olympics South Western regional five-a-side tournament.
All the teams, whose players have various disabilities, enjoyed a great day and had loads of laughs, making new friends.
Andrew Trigger from the Tavispecials continued his usual trick of ‘goal hanger’ and scored a brace. His goal celebration included nearly everyone in the ground and seeing the pleasure this gave him made them realise the good football can do.
The Devon Ability Counts leagues kick off on Sunday, November 11, at the Devon FA HQ with 31 men’s teams entered, several ladies’ sides and youth teams. More and more clubs are forming in the county to give everyone the chance to play football for fun.
