Feniton 1

AFTER the festive season, Tavistock ladies made a brilliant start to the new year with a 2-1 win at home to Feniton.

The game started end to end with both teams finding their feet. Feniton applied the pressure and the Tavistock backline of Lauren Averall, Emma Jones,  Carleigh Bammens and Gemma Small scooped up the loose balls. New players Averall and Claire Charnock sat in well on the right hand side.

Some good midfield play from Tania Coker led to Jo Harris passing to Becky Gordon, who ran past the defence and scored in the bottom left corner.

The half finished 1-0 to Tavistock but the home side knew Feniton would come out fighting in the second half. They proved that this was the case when they scored an early equaliser.

Feniton kept battling and pushing hard for a second but Tavistock held strong. With a last push, Tavistock took to the wing with a lovely cross from Gordon, good work from Jones and Becky Turner ensured Tavistock’s second goal giving the ladies a well fought victory.
