TAVISTOCK Athletic Club had a strong turnout at the recent Armada Autumn Trail race in Newnham Park, Plympton.

The iconic race (formerly known as the Frank Elford Autumn Trail) is held over a variety of terrain through the beautiful estate owned by the Cobbold family. The course is just more than seven miles and includes four river crossings, lots of trails through woods, plenty of mud, tracks and fields.

Tavistock were well represented in the juniors adventure fun run with Brad Stevens coming home first and Joe Dix second, just ahead of first girl, Tilly McDowell. In the seniors Jim Cole made his return to racing for the club. He used the race as preparation for the upcoming cross country season and romped home in first place. Alistair Peers also had a strong run finishing 17th overall. Pete Bazley won his category for the second week on the trot coming home in 43rd and first vet 60.

Not only did Tavistock have great runners throughout the field but ladies from the club also provided top catering for runners, fun runners, officials and spectators and helped raise funds for the club.
