ON a beautiful Saturday there was an independent Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney Sheepdog Trial at The Sports Field of Plasterdown near Tavistock.

Owners and their dogs competed in the novice/open Maltese cross and open classes.

There was also a dog show and terrier racing for spectators to enjoy.

In the novice MX, judged by Ken Watson of Postbridge, 16 ran. The winner was Bob Watson, North Tawton with Roy; 2, Lesley Lock, Plymouth with Bear; Terry Parsons, Yatton, Lil; 4, Jenny Holdsworth, Moretonhampstead, Loki. 

Open MX, 11 ran — 1, Ken Watson, Postbridge, Matt; 2, Bob Watson, Max; 3 Luke Hopper, Veryan, Fern.

Open driving, 16 ran — 1, John Carter, Delabole, Bob; 2, Julie Tucker, Brentor, Sweep; 3, Shirley Greenaway, Mana-ton, Sanduck Flip; 6, Bob Watson, North Tawton, Jay.
