NO less than 120 children from six schools took part in the OCRA organised Tavistock Area Primary Schools’ large schools’ football tournament at Crowndale, Tavistock on September 27.

Officiated by Allen Lewis and Toby Scanlon, the teams were divided into two pools and played five games in the lead up to the semi-finals.

Pool one winners were St Andrew’s A with Whitchurch second, St Peter’s A third, St Andrew’s C fourth, Tavistock B fifth and Horrabridge B sixth.

Tavistock A won pool two on goal difference from St Andrew’s B with Bere Alston third, Horrabridge A fourth, St Peter’s B fifth and St Andrew’s D sixth.

Semi-final A was between Tavistock A and Whitchurch which went to penalties. Whitchurch emerged the winners of this encounter.

Semi-final B saw the two St Andrew’s teams face each other with the A team winning 2-0.

The final also went to penalties. Whitchurch, again, proving that they can score penalties took the gold medals.

All four semi-final teams will go through to the West Devon Finals at Crowndale on Thursday, October 19.

Mhairi McCall of OCRA declared the morning a great success and thanked Tavistock Community Football Club for providing the excellent pitches for the event.
