Carlsberg South West Peninsula division one East
Brixham 4
Okehampton Argyle 1
AFTER a long lay-off due to the weather, Argyle returned to action at in-form Brixham on Saturday.
Playing into a fierce wind, they started off in great form when Ross Voaden slotted home a fine goal after only two minutes.
For the remainder of the first half, Argyle were forced to defend as Brixham playing with the wind at their backs pushed them back.
Okehampton defended courageously and the home side were unable to break through until the 43rd minute when they forced home an equaliser.
Argyle had hopes of taking advantage of the wind in the second half, but with so little match practice and no training, their legs gave out and it was Brixham who dominated.
Harry Geering in the Oke goal made a series of outstanding saves to keep Argyle in the game but in the end the home side broke through three more times to seal a decisive victory.
Man of the match for Okehampton was Harry Geering some of whose saves were described by the Brixham secretary as ‘world-class’. South Zeal’s Tom Reilly turning out for Argyle for the first time this season also had an outstanding match.
