Devon Premier Cup
BERE ALSTON UNITED 0
BRAUNTON TOWN 4
AFTER three weeks of trying to get the Devon Premier Cup third round match versus Braunton Town played Bere Alston were taking no chances by playing the fixture on Tavistock College’s all weather pitch.
Braunton started the game on the front foot and were the better team for the first 20 minutes but without real threat on Bere’s goal. Bere Alston eventually got going and then pressed Braunton back inside their own half. Backway came close to scoring for United when his shot hit the crossbar and minutes later Phillips and Hardy both should of easily scored. The missed chances came back to bite Bere Alston in the second half as Braunton took a 1-0 lead due to some sloppy Bere play.
Bere Alston went down to 10 men, which proved crucial as Bere then conceded three goals in 12 minutes and that was game over.
Bere Alston FC manager Will Westlake said: ‘Individual errors poor discipline and a real lack of work rate cost us the game today along with not taking our chances when presented with them. We must improve on this when we return to league action next week.’
