North Petherwin 2

LAMERTON faced North Petherwin with perfect weather conditions for football.

After having no fixture last week Lamerton were all fully charged and ready to go, with two new signings Ricky Harris and Steve Daymond and having players back from injuries.

The game started off scrappy and it took the home side 15 minutes to calm the play and set the tempo. With all the play Lamerton peppered the visitors’ goal with shots — Sam Turner, Robbie Court, Nathan Panter and Daymond all coming close to score, The first goal came when Paul Cowling won the ball and passed to Panter who fired in a 25 yard shot, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The second was not far behind when Daryl Panter linked up with Turner and N Panter, who set up Robbie Court to slot home. The third came from a huge tackle from Graham Galway, which fell to Panter who set up Turner to head over the out rushing goalkeeper.

Soon it was four when good work from Daymond and Vanstone, who put D Panter in to slot home.

North Petherwin could not keep up with Lamerton’s dominance and passing style and the pace of Blair Vanstone and Panter on the wings causing a constant threat. The home side did not look like conceding with solid defending by Paul Breyley, Graham Galway and Jack Payne and the midfield holding it tight with R Court and Cowling it looked like Lamerton’s name was in the hat.

The second half was much the same with goalkeeper Josh Mcdonald being a spectator and more pressure being put on the away goal. The fifth goal came from the dynamic R Court who rounded two defenders to curl the ball into the top corner while number six was from substitute Harris who drove a 20 yard shot which bamboozled the goalkeeper to fly past him. A ten minute spell where Lamerton pushed for more goals saw Petherwin surge on the counter attack, scoring two goals to end the match 6-2.
