CHIPPING SODBURY 0

TAVISTOCK AFC 3

THIS rearranged game last week saw the Lambs back on the road again with a visit to South Gloucestershire — but there was to be no travel weariness in their performance.

Dan Evans was absent to illness but Tavistock welcomed back Warren Dawe; Ben Elphick remained in goal for the absent Josh Oak and they also welcomed Kian Burn, who along with his elder brother Tallon, sat on the bench.

There was a couple of early chances for the Lambs as Jack Crago let fly from distance and a penetrating run from full back Josh Robbins saw his effort off target. The visitors opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Robbins sent Crago away down the wing and his low cross found Josh Grant to control, turn inside and put it past Provis at the near post. Robbins then found himself in the referee’s book for a foul outside of the area.

Crago then saw a shot come cross bounce off the top of the crossbar and surprisingly the first half drew to a close at just 1-0 to the Lambs.

Tavistock came out for the second half with purpose and within the first minute had doubled their lead. Calum Watson stole the ball in midfield to turn between two opponents and sent Liam Prynn down the right, his low fierce shot saw Provis get a hand to the ball but only parried out to the onrushing Robbins to blast it home.

Ten minutes later Jordan Annear saw his effort hit the crossbar and soon after, when from a Ben Cross cross his header again hit the bar.

Chipping Sodbury’s Burman was then lucky to be only cautioned for a nasty foul on Watson. Kian Burns came on for Crago around the 70th minute mark followed by Alex Cairo for Prynn minutes later. The Lambs continued to look for a third goal and again Annear was unlucky as his shot went just over.

Robbins was in the thick of things as he saw his effort on 80 minutes saved by Provis and moments later was adjudged to have committed a second bookable offence that saw him dismissed.

But the Lambs finished the game in fine style; with just three minutes of normal time left Burns was put in on goal out wide; striding forward he let fly with power and despite quite close to the keeper it flew past him to give the Lambs a well-earned three points.

This was a good all round team performance by Tavistock that saw them creep up the table with many games in hand over their near rivals.
