Witheridge 0

THIS game was a real challenge for the Lambs, as Witheridge could draw level on points with the home team if they could record a victory on their visit to Langsford Park.

The Lambs started the game at a fast pace and opened the scoring in the seventh minute when a fine move saw Kelvin Fyneboy’s fine header come back of the post; Lewis Daw was the first to react to the lose ball and fired home from ten yards.

The visitors came close to equalising ten minutes later when Tap saw his effort well saved by Jack Ord in the home goal. Moor in the visitors’ goal then made a fine save to deny Glyn Hobbs from scoring.

In the 23rd minute the Lambs doubled their advantage when another flowing move saw Lewis Coombes header find Glyn Hobbs who deftly lobbed the advancing keeper to make it 2-0.

The home team continued to dominate the play and a great effort from Jack Crago  was deflected for a corner kick, which was cleared.

The home team increased their lead three minutes before the interval when another corner kick by Dave Hallett to the far post, saw Lewis Daw head the ball back across the box, Fyneboy latched onto the ball and fire home from six yards.

Hobbs then thundered a free kick from 25 yards which whistled inches over the bar.

The second was virtually a repeat of the first, as the home team continued to dominate and almost increased their lead in the 50th minute when another Hallett corner kick saw Fyneboy’s powerful header cleared off the goal line.

Moor, the visitors’ keeper, then made a fine save to deny Crago, in the 57th minute, but the home team was not to be denied as three minutes later when a great move, saw Coombes finding Hobbs who produced the perfect pass for Crago to fire home from 18 yards.

The home team then seem to take their foot off the pedal and Witheridge came more into the game in the last quarter. In the 73rd minute from a corner kick the ball was cleared, the ball fell to Bassett twenty yards from goal but his effort sailed well over the bar.

Nine minutes later following another corner kick Jack Ord in the home goal made a brilliant save from Ibbisson to deny the visitors from reducing the deficit. The home team saw out the remainder of the game in order to keep another clean sheet.

This was another good team performance against a team that is challenging to finish in the top five. Everyone played their part in a comfortable win and keeps the team in a position to challenge for a top four place in the league.
