MANY Tavistock Athletic Club athletes took part in the Plymouth and West Devon Schools’ cross country running competition.

The intermediate and senior girls were first to run, with Emma Ryder (Notre Dame) taking the gold medal in the intermediate race and Victoria Moore (Mount Kelly) achieving gold in the senior girls’ race.

Jennifer Sabine (Tavistock College) was fifth and Beth Watmore (Mount Kelly) seventh in the senior race.

This race was followed by the senior boys’ race with Joshua Blake taking silver and Henry Ware in ninth place (both Tavistock College).

Next it was the turn of the Year 7 girls. Fifty five girls in total took part with Persephone Sparrow (Mount Kelly) and Alice Bickley (Devonport High School for Girls) taking seventh and eighth places respectively.

Oliver Woodmason (Ivybridge) picked up the silver medal in the Year 7 boys’ event which had 54 entrants, with Dan Luckham fifth, Joe Dix sixth, Freddie Fuller 12th and Evan Ord 19th (all Tavistock College).

Two medals went to TAC athletes in the junior girls’ race, with Natasha Farrington in silver medal position and Jenny Milburn (Plymouth High School for Girls) in bronze. Charlotte Harris (Mount Kelly) came 14th.

Tom Brew (Mount Kelly) won gold in the junior boys’ event.
