Plymouth and West?Devon three
Tavistock CFC 1
Princetown 1
PRINCETOWN started the first half battling the wet and windy conditions and had most of the possession and attack.
In a neat move from midfield, Princetown got the ball to Dave Gibbings who went past two defenders to take a well finished strike in the bottom right of the Tavy keeper’s net on 25 minutes.
Dave Harwood played an outstanding half, battling in the middle of the park. Princetown held on but Tavy were unlucky not to have scored an equaliser before half time, when a Ross Sherrell goal was ruled offside five minutes before the break.
The second half saw Tavistock fired up and they took the game to Princetown. Some great defending from James Hilton and man of the match Kyle Robinson kept them at bay. Princetown’s discipline started to slip and allowed Tavistock a free kick 25 yards out, which was sweetly struck by James Claridge but stopped by a fine save from Princetown keeper Simon Beard.
Tavistock continued to press forward and eventually exploited Princetown’s lack of discipline. Another free kick two minutes from the final whistle was crossed in to the Princetown box by Claridge. Jack Jessop got on the end of the delivery to battle the ball past the Princetown keeper for an important equaliser.
