Devon B Seconds West

Tavistock seconds v

Cornwood thirds

Tavistock fresh from their opening victory over Brixham visited Cornwood on Saturday for another likely tough game.

Cornwood won the toss and put Tavistock into bat.

Phil Stephens out of retirement and Phil Bees opened the innings putting on 85 for the first wicket. Stephens hit 10 fours in a fine 54 before being dismissed, Rob Milligan added 17 before the fireworks started with Ben Russell entering the affray. Ben knows only one way to play, his great eye for the ball allows him to attack and he hammered the Cornwood attack scoring 75 from 37 balls with 8 sixes. Captain Andy Gauler contributed 52 not out and Matt Puttock 32 not out as Tavistock posted 278 for 7.

In reply Cornwood struggled against Tavistocks new ball attack who were so deadly the week before.

Again Puttock and Lewis destroyed the top order. Puttock took 5 for 27 and Lewis 3 for 26 with Mark Hopkins taking 2 for 17,

Cornwood were bundled out for 92. Another great win for Tavistock ends which puts them on top of the table with 40 points.

Tavistock win.

Tavistock seconds v

Brixham seconds

Tavistock seconds entertained last seasons league runners up Brixham, who were unlucky not to be promoted, knowing this could be a tough game. The home side won the toss and fielded, Brixham reached 19 before the new Tavistock opening attack took their first victim.

Matt Puttock and Marc Lewis then proceeded to devastate the Brixham innings. Incredibly they bowled the team out for 50 in just 13 overs. Matt Puttock took 5 for 26 and Marc Lewis 4 for 23 and only W Small achieved double figures with 13.

Tavistock confidently reached the small target. Phil Bees scored 18 not out and only two wickets were lost.

This was a great start for the seconds, who are much stronger this year and should be able to challenge for promotion.

Tavistock win.
