Crowndale in Tavistock was the place to be on October 19 when 160 children from all over West Devon took part in the OCRA West Devon Primary School Football finals.

For the first time this year, the event included an U10 girls’ competition, with the winning team going through to the School Games’ county finals.

Okehampton, St Andrew’s, Bere Alston, St Peter’s and Tavistock all played each other with St Andrew’s girls coming out as the winners, beating Okehampton 2-0, Bere Alston 2-1, St Peter’s 2-1 and drawing with second place team Tavistock 0-0. St Andrew’s will represent West Devon at Paignton in March.

Teams from Chagford, Okehampton, North and South Tawton, Hatherleigh, St Peter’s, St Andrew’s (A and B sides), Tavistock, Bere Alston and Whitchurch were competing in the traditional schools football finals.

The teams were divided into two pools with St Andrew’s A triumphing in pool one and Bere Alston coming second. Tavistock won pool two just ahead of St Andrew’s B.

In the first semi-final, St Andrew’s A v St Andrew’s B, finished without any scoring so a penalty shoot-out decided who would go forward to the final. The B team stepped up to win this encounter.

Tavistock took on Bere Alston and won 4-0 in the second semi-final.

The final resulted in a win for Tavistock, beating St Andrew’s B 2-0.
