Families are invited to come and show support to local Lambs for the big game this Saturday.
Tavistock AFC will be hosting Taunton Town FC at Langsford Park as they play their third qualifying match of the 2017/18 Emirates FA Cup.
The Lambs AFC reached this stage of the FA Cup in 1954/55.
Following successful wins at Shepton Mallet AFC (4-1) and then home to Shaftesbury (2-1), Tavistock AFC are now through to the first qualifying round, and puts them 11 games away from the end goal of a trip to Wembley.
The competitive teams will be walked out onto the pitch by the Horrabridge Rangers’ under 12s team, who will assist as ball boys throughout the match and take part in a penalty shoot out at half time.
’We’re keen to make this an event for everyone,’ said Stuart Henderson, Manager of Tavistock AFC first team. ’We’re still really early days within this competition but it’s a fantastic experience for our players, as well as our supporters.
’We’re delighted to be able to make Saturday’s game a wider community event and having the Horrabridge Rangers join us is fantastic. These young people, many of whom live and go to school in Tavistock, are the next generation of footballers and what better way than to get them involved in such an exciting day.
’We’re also hopeful that local supporters and families, as well as those in neighbouring and surrounding areas, will come along on the day too and cheer all the lads on.’
Children under 12, accompanied by a paying adult, have free entry into the FA Cup game and concessions are also available. Tickets will be available to purchase at the Langsford Park gate.
