THE Tavistock Community FC men’s team beat a strong Grub Up side in a cracking match in the Goldring Cup at Crowndale on Sunday.

The cup is an annual event celebrating the life of the daughter of Graham and Val Goldring, Caroline Goldring who died from cancer, aged 28, in 2014. Before the cup game both teams played the Tavi Specials Championship and league two sides.

As always the event was strongly supported and around £300 was raised to Caroline’s Charity, which supports relatives who need accommodation when visiting family members receiving treatment in London.

Everyone who attended joined in a minute’s silence and a huge round of applause to honour the memory of a popular and beautiful young lady.

Caroline’s Cup is now a registered Devon FA Trophy.

Graham Goldring, her father, made a heart felt speech after the presentation and once again the Tavistock community rallied together in a positive and special football event.
