Devon and Exeter eight
Chagford Reserves 2
Sidmouth Town thirds 3
Chagford Res-erves’ season fizzled out tamely against a team without anything but mid-table pretensions.
After brave displays against promotion contenders, this was a huge disappointment for the watching supporters.
The writing seemed to be on the wall as early as the third minute, when Forsyth pounced on a mistake by Geering for a close range tap in.
In-form Liam O’Connell spurned three chances before the break, with his colleague Geering making as many great stops at the other end to keep his side in the running.
Man of the match, Jack Hirst, was sent clear by Hutchison and slotted home a Chagford equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Chagford raised their game a little at the start of the second half but, within 15 minutes, fell behind again as Dunne scored for the Vikings.
The final blow came seven minutes later when Richard Sampson headed the ball into his own net.
With 20 minutes remaining, there was time for the hosts to pull the score back again but the will seemed to be somewhat lacking for once.
