WADEBRIDGE TOWN LADIES 0

CALLINGTON TOWN LADIES 8

CALLINGTON Town’s second team controlled the match from start to finish against bottom of the table Wadebridge.

The 4-3-3 formation chosen by stand-in manager, Kate McPherson, worked successfully throughout the 90 minutes.

The visitors took the lead in the 17 minute with a perfectly cushioned volley by Lisa Pearce into the path of strike-partner, Rachel Finch, who calmly rolled the ball into the far corner.

On 22 minutes Callington added a second when a Gemma Farley corner whipped straight into the goal at the far post. Just five minutes later Farley added a third when the referee spotted a push in the box on Pearce. Farley dispatched the resulting spot-kick with confidence for 3-0.

Just after the half-hour mark it was another Farley corner which led to the fourth goal. This time the in-swinging corner flicked off a defender’s head, leaving Wadebridge’s keeper with little chance.

The second half was much more of the same, as Callington got on the front foot again. On 65th minute a Farley corner was volleyed towards goal by Kate Crowells-Hodge, moments before it was flicked in by the head of Alicia Turner. Ten minutes later Turner kicked the ball into the path of speedy full-back, Katlyn Bentley who youngster drove down the wing before unleashing an arrowed strike right into the top corner, in off the post.

Lisa Pearce rounded off the emphatic win with two strikes late in the game; the first se-up by Farley and the second was a 30yard lob which left the keeper stranded.
