HORRABRIDGE Rangers U12s recorded an outstanding victory when they beat their arch rivals, AFC Plympton, in an impressive cup final at The Mill, Torpoint FC.
Having finished their league campaign in an impressive position in the top flight, they had battled their way into the cup final.
The first half was an even affair. Horrabridge captain and player of the match, Archie Wall fired in a very impressive free kick after 15 minutes to give the Bridgers a well-deserved lead.
Plympton fought back and were rewarded with an equaliser right on the stroke of half time.
Rather than deflate Horrabridge, this proved to spur them on. With their defence looking rock solid, this allowed the rest of the team to push forward regularly and this pressure was rewarded with a goal from a tight angle from Josh Downing-Hewes.
Shortly afterwards a free kick by the impressive Liam Wheeler was drilled home from distance.
With a commanding lead now in place, the Plympton heads dropped and Horrabridge took full advantage with a quick fire hat-trick from Reuben Pascoe, who took his chances brilliantly.
Jaiden Higgins in goal for Horrabridge pulled off a remarkable double save at a vital point in the second half which could have put a different complexion on the whole game.
Horrabridge’s best performance of the season was rewarded with a fantastic piece of silver wear and means that the boys will be climbing the steps twice at The Pavillions, at the Devon Junior Minor League presentation evening on June 10.
