OKEHAMPTON ARGYLE RESERVES 2

SIDMOUTH 2

ARGYLE reserves were disappointed to only take one point from a game in which they dominated possession.

Sidmouth opened the scoring with what was their only meaningful attack of the first half.

The second half followed a similar pattern and before long Jamie Atherton equalised with a great finish from a tight angle.

With Okehampton going after the winner Sidmouth had other ideas and retook the lead with a volley from the edge of the box that gave home keeper Jamie Stevens no chance of saving.

A sense of injustice saw Argyle press hard over the last 15 minutes and this was rewarded when Sidmouth gave away a free kick at the edge of the box. Atherton stepped up and put the ball into the top corner to rescue the point.

The game saw the senior Argyle reserves debuts for two 16 year olds, Dom Harnell and Arden Frew-Smith who both made a promising start in adult football.

Okehampton Argyle reserves will visit Cheriton Fitzpaine on Saturday and will be hoping to get back to winning ways to help with their push for promotion.
