HAVING struggled to raise a side and going into the game with a bare eleven Okehampton started brightly.

Shiv Aslett pulled the strings in midfield and put a few through balls into the path of Gilbert and Marks. One such ball sent Gilbert through but her shot went just wide of the post.

After chances at both ends it was Budleigh who made the break through with a run down the left and cross into the area for their striker to tap home.

Budleigh’s lead did not last long however as Oke continued to push and from a Shiv Aslett corner, her sister Sian headed home. With the Argyle back line of Ellis, King, Vincent and Scott-Lawson holding their position well Budleigh found it hard to get in behind and threaten Burgess’s goal.

Oke got a free-kick when Shiv was bought down 30 yards out; taking the kick herself player of the match Shiv saw her shot bounce into the net.

Budleigh hit back straight away after a slip in the Oke defence allowed their striker to cooly finish.

In the starting 20 minutes of the second Oke struggled to get the ball out of their box, let alone their half but one quick break saw Marks surge down the left to put the ball into Gilbert, who turned beautifully to loop her loop over the keeper to make it 3-2 to Argyle.

Once more the lead did not last long as Budleigh got a third with a well placed shot.

With five minutes to go the Budleigh keeper mis-kicked her clearance straight to Gilbert who coolly passed the ball into the net for the winner.

Special mention to Bonnie Harris who was excellent in midfield.
