Buckley Cup
Belstone v Hatherleigh
BELSTONE made it five wins out of five in this season's Buckley Cup with a seven wicket win over Hatherleigh at Rew Meadow.
Hatherleigh batted first and took eight off Dan Fogerty's first over with Mark Gibbs soon retiring on 25, but Fogerty came back well with only six runs coming off his other three overs.
Harry Bushin (4-0-18-2), Ryan Dennis (4-0-13-2) and Callum Mallett (4-0-19-1) all bowled economically and picked up wickets, offset by big hitting from Stephen Doidge (19) and Robert Cockwill (20), all of which meant that Hatherleigh finished their 20 overs on 105 for seven.
In reply Belstone reached the halfway stage right on course at 54 for one after a solid contribution from Scott Tremain (25 retired).
Not for the first time Richard Drake (18) upped the tempo, well supported by James Walker (17), with 29 runs coming from the next three overs, leaving a relatively simple run-in for the home team to win the game with nearly four overs to spare.
