Clyst Hydon v

BELSTONE won the toss and batted on their first ever visit to Clyst Hydon's compact high scoring ground.

Graham Trude picked up the first three wickets with only 42 on the board but then Phil Woods and Tom Fogerty settled the visitor's nerves with a fourth wicket partnership of 86 in 13 overs.

Woods, who had struck eight boundaries in an elegant half century, was then bowled around his legs by Tom Pettitt. By now Fogerty was into his stride, picking up singles and twos at will to the deep set field and occasionally striking powerfully to the boundary.

After Pettitt (8-0-47-3) deceived two more batsmen for a stumping and a clean bowled, Fogerty found a willing partner in Callum Mallett; they took charge of the latter stages of the innings with an unbroken seventh wicket stand of 83 in 13 overs with Mallett reaching a career-best 29 not out.

Fogerty cut loose in the final overs as he reached his debut hundred, ending the innings on 106 not out with 11 fours and one six.

Dan Fogerty (7-2-23-3) dismissed both Clyst Hydon openers cheaply and with Ryan Dennis (5-2-15-0) bowling a miserly opening spell at the other end and Mallett taking a wicket with his first ball the home team were soon well behind the asking rate at 44-4 after 11 overs.

Trude brought them back into the game with a hard-hitting partnership of 75 in 12 overs with Paul Garnham (32) before he drove straight to Woods in front of the pavilion at deep mid-wicket, having hit seven boundaries and three sixes in his 67.

Another useful partnership of 59 between Steve Pettitt (34) and Sinthuran Thevaraj (27 not out) kept the score mounting but eventually the 40 overs ran out with the score on 211-7 to leave Belstone the winners of an entertaining game by 33 runs.
