A GOOD turnout of members from Okehampton Running Club took part in the popular Bideford 10 Miler. Although it was held on the same day as the 2,000 people took part in the Plymouth 10k, still attracted 321 runners.

The heavy showers which fell during most of the day abated during the race although a head wind on the homeward turn was not helpful.

The fast flat course is almost definitely the flattest 10 mile race to be found in the County and nearly all the ORCs achieved a UKA award for their time.

Steve Gentle is back on form after a frustratingly long period of injury. He posted a great time of 1.02.24 (silver UKA) being the first ORC home in 17th overall position. Rob Kelly 1.03.22 (silver) and Andy Vernon 1.05.21 (gold) – these two finished in the top 30 places.

Other ORC times and awards: Stuart May 1.11.52 (bronze), Jean-Paul Quertier 1.12.09 (bronze), Jason Ewing 1.18.39 (bronze), Jane Jackson 1.20.20 second FV55 (gold), Jane Jones 1.23.27 second FV50 (silver), Rebecca Ewing 1.24.03 (bronze), Keri Quertier 1.24.04 (B), Danielle Fulford-Brown 1.24.05 third FV50 (silver), Abby Metherell 1.24.05 (bronze), Claire Kelly 1.24.10, Brian Welham 1.25.34 (bronze), Chris Fulford-Brown 1.26.14 (bronze), Deborah Cunningham 1.30.10 (bronze).
