ON Saturday, October 11 at 10am, starting at the Tavistock Community Football Club, TCFC Ladies are once again getting on their bikes to raise funds for their club. This time they will cycle 42 miles along to Okehampton and back via the route 27 and the Granite Way, in fancy dress. After not the best start to last season with having no manager and barely a team, Tavistock Ladies have come leaps and bounds, finishing third in the league last season and are working hard towards promotion this season. They have around 20 ladies signed on and would welcome any new players looking to join the team. Tania Coker, their spokesperson, told Times Sport: 'With the cost of playing football increasing, as a team we have thought of different ways to fundraise money to cover the running costs of our team, for example to help cover the cost of training facilities, referee fees, laundering the kit, equipment etc. 'After the success and the fun we had last time cycling Tavistock to Plymouth and back via Drake's Trail, they hope to enjoy it just as much as well as hoping to raise more than the £900 raised last year. 'We will be playing at home to Newton St Cyres the next day at 3pm so hopefully our legs won't be aching too much! All team members each have sponsor forms, If anyone would like to sponsor us please get in touch with myself, any donations would be greatly appreciated.
