AN up and coming shooting star has been chosen for a national selection process that could lead to an Olympic spot in the future.
Year 6 Mount Kelly pupil Emily Pascoe has been selected to attend an Olympic Talent Assessment for shooting event, which could lead to selection for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan in 2020.
Emily, age 10, is the youngest participant to be invited to this prestigious event which will take place on November 9 at the home of British shooting, Bisley Shooting Ground.
Emily has been shooting since the age of 8 and began her training with the Lamerton Pony Club and Mount Kelly School.
Her selection for the national Target Tokyo shooting competition is a great honour.
Emily has been selected from thousands of applicants as one of more than 50 children invited to compete. She will be in elite company as since 2006 more than 7,000 individuals from across the UK have applied to take part in the Olympic and Paralympic talent assessment events.
From this pool of talent, winners have included 102 international medals at a senior and junior level has (including two Olympic, one Paralympic and 15 World Championship medals).
