WHITCHURCH Wayfarer U13s Cricket team entertained Yealmpton U13s on Sunday. Yealmpton batted first against a Whitchurch side only able to field a team of eight players. The home side bowled with accuracy and backed it up with some excellent ground fielding. Helen Jackman (4-0-10-1) and Aiden Hall (4-0-16-2), including a smart caught and bowled, bowled an opening eight overs. This was followed by accurate bowling from Ben Prout (4-0-23-2) and John Lui-Brown (3-0--14-1). Fynn Hall came to bowl (2-0-10-1) and Nathan Prout (3-0-8-0) reduced Yealmpton to 88-8 off their 20 overs. Whitchurch started their reply well and produced the biggest stand of the season (43), Ben Prout (33) and Luke Lewandowski (7).When Luke was bowled, Helen Jackman (13) then shared a 30 run stand and played some classic cricket shots, until Ben Prout (33) was bowled after making some superb shots. It was left to skipper Aiden Hall and Tom Pearson to see Whitchurch home by seven wickets.
