Ashmoor ladies’ 4
Okehampton ladies’ seconds 1
THE year 2016 ended with a hopeful first half to the season with Okehampton seconds finishing mid-table. Going into 2017 Oke hoped to progress further up the table and started the year against Ashmoor, who had previously beaten Oke 2-1 in a close-knit match.
Although a cold and windy day Oke started the attack well with their player of the match Elsa Frangleton and Emily Rowlands working hard on the wings to work the ball up the pitch.
Ashmoor suddenly had a couple of quick breaks through the middle and despite great tackles from defenders Nicky Pedrick, Carol Taylor, Alice Wiseman and Hannah Hawes, Ashmoor cleverly sneaked the ball past goalie Lucy Wiseman.
After an encouraging team talk Okehampton came out fighting in the second half with forwards Annebelle Rademaker, Larissa Goodger and Emma Wiseman making timeless shots on goal that just could not slip past the goalie.
Oke knew they had to use the middle of the pitch to full advantage and with slick tidy passing between midfields Anna Speak, Rochelle Woollacott and Nicola Bennie, they tirelessly worked the ball up the pitch giving Nicola a deserved goal straight into the back on the net.
Okehampton worked hard till the final whistle but could not pull back the game from Ashmoor.
