East Devon 2

Tavistock firsts 4

THIS away win for Tavistock was hard fought and could prove to be an important victory as the season progresses as the hosts pushed the visitors more than any other side in recent games.

East Devon took the lead inside two minutes having enjoyed the majority of the early possession and territory; a patient build up was finished from close range to open the scoring.

Tavistock did not panic but did take a while to play themselves into the game; it was far from their normally dominant performance but this was entirely down to East Devon, who pressed quickly and attacked with a purpose.

Tavistock created a couple of half chances before they equalised, the goal coming from Megicks who followed up well from a penalty corner.

Both sides looked solid in defence and looked to break quickly. The visitors scored the next goal when Sam Willetts deflected the ball and confidently passed the keeper following the original shot from striker Mark Forshaw. From this point both sides continued to attack with the hosts forcing the Reds to surrender possession more than in any other game this season.

Tavistock scored a third when skipper Tom Honey fired the ball into the D towards Ollie Richards who, with his back to goal, cleverly deflected the ball past the advancing keeper.

East Devon continued to look dangerous but were caught with quick counter attacks.

With 15 minutes remaining East Devon scored from a penalty corner. Tavistock regained their two goal lead when Honey found Fenwick who’s pass into the D was delicately touched up and over the keeper - the finish from Forshaw an early contender for goal of the season.

Tavistock thus maintain their 100% start to the season.
