FOOTBALL students from Duchy College Stoke Climsland have been inspiring the next generation of footballers during a successful soccer school held at the college, near Callington, over February half-term.

Thirty local youngsters participated in the three-day soccer school, many of whom play for local U11s football clubs including Callington, Lifton, Launceston and Southgate.

The enthusiastic group of Duchy College students have been delivering daily coaching sessions covering skills such as passing, dribbling, crossing and finishing. Participants also took part in street soccer games.

A number of college students volunteered to organise and coach the soccer school. The student coach Ben Sims from Lifton is currently studying the sport BTEC extended diploma, specialising in football.

Under the supervision of Duchy College football performance coach Gary Jeffrey, the students organised the entire soccer school themselves.

Money raised will go towards developing the sports courses and facilities at Duchy College.
