ROUND two of Tavistock's Woodland Riders Winter downhill series was hailed another great success on Sunday.

Summer like weather and a rapidly drying track gave the 80+ riders a perfect day of gravity based action.

Club track officer and race organiser Chaz Lamley again put together a slightly varied track to give the racers of all abilities, lots of challenges down the steep terrain. The ever present roots and rocks were joined by a newly constructed jump and lots of tight, steep switchback turns to test the riders skill and nerve.

In the elite catergory Jay Williamson edged out Ash Mullane by just 0.13 of a second! The seniors was won by local favourite Bill Colwill with just his first run counting after crashing heavily on his second run down the hill.

Charlie Ross put in a smooth, fast performance for top spot in the juniors with a time that gave him the fourth fastest run on the day. Tavistock's popular bike shop, Dartmoor Cycle's  new owner and master catergory winner Andy Boyle made it two rounds out of two.

Organisers thanked prize sponsors Koo Bikes, Silverfish UK and SuperSaturated clothing.

The third out of four races will be held at the Tavistock Woodlands site on March 25.
