South West two

Plympton Grammar School Old Boys 2

TAVISTOCK B team were looking to build upon the win last week and move a place above the opposition in the league table.

They fielded a resolute back four, a midfield - made up of entirely Year 10 students - and young and old up front provided the necessary balance to take the game to the home side.

Bott and Bellamy soon took command in the centre of midfield for the visitors providing flair and imagination to get the ball deep into the Plympton’s half and on several occasions releasing Gregory on the left, who created all sorts of problems to the opponents defence. Walker on the right also made some mesmerising runs into the D.

After conceding a goal the entire Tavistock team fought hard to be on level terms by the interval and just rewards were gained moments before half time when Gregory scored his first for the club.

Similar phases of play developed in the second half. Gott and Tanner worked tirelessly to nullify and stifle any attacks made with their attackers being kept at bay for long periods - even when they did manage to penetrate the defence, the resolute Oxenham still had to be beat.

An error in defence led to a goal which meant Tavistock had to up their game to get something out of a quickly fading game. The entire midfield pushed hard throughout long periods which meant that Buckeridge — Hoods finally got his chance and scored a much needed goal that gave the visitors a well earned away point.
