cup final
Tavistock v Luckett
ON a beautiful July evening Tavistock and Luckett met in the final at Werrington's picturesque ground.
Tavistock batted first and a solid opening stand of over a hundred by Aaron Churchill and Rhys Davies laid the foundation for a decent score.
Churchill made 56 and Davies 60 before cameos by Tim Pope, Sean Daymond and Sean Cleave took the score to a competitive 182. Southcott and Simpson were the pick of the Luckett bowlers with two wickets a piece.
Luckett's reply was steady but with prolific run scorer Andy Brenton out for 31 their hopes of achieving the target faded while superb fielding and catching kept the run rate climbing.
Sean Cleave 2-33 and Rhys Davies 3-8 ensured that batsman always struggled and Luckett came up 49 runs short of Tavistock's total.
Captain Aaron Churchill collected the trophy from league chairman Mike Pike in what had been an enjoyable game played with an excellent spirit between both teams.
