WHITCHURCH entertained Aldbourne for an end of season friendly.
The tourists batted first and made a good start with Walker making 31 before being bowled by McKenzie. Hodge then chipped in with two for 35, as Aldbourne had a middle order collapse going from 57 for one to 69 for four.
Bishop and Scrase shared in a partnership of 55 before Scrase was well caught by Webber off a Tamblin slower ball. Tamblin took two for 37 aided by another catch from Webber and Kerswill three for 32.
Whitchurch were made to work for those wickets as Bishop completed a half century and Vinson blasted a quick fire 30 from number ten.
Aldbourne were all out in the last over for 202.
Charlie Barriball lead the Whitchurch reply, blasting 44 off six overs. Steve Hodge chipped in with 30 before Whitchurch suffered a similar middle order stumbling.
At the halfway stage Whitchurch were up with the run rate but losing batsmen.
Veteran Kevin Jacobs batted with composure and was well supported by Ben Hodge. Jacobs completed his half century as the target came within sight and went on to finish unbeaten on 75 as Whitchurch won by five wickets with a little over two overs to spare.
On Friday the club host their annual presentation night at the clubhouse, starting from 6.30pm. The season then draws to a close on Sunday with the Club XI versus the Chairman’s XI commencing at 1pm.
