IT was a mixed year for the two senior Whitchurch Wayfarers’ teams resulted in the first XI being relegated to D Division West and the second XI narrowly missing out on promotion.

In their speeches both captains reflected on their mutual travails. Billy Barriball said that at the ripe old age of 21 he was one of the most senior members of a very young squad who could only improve.

Seconds’ captain Jason Webber noted that a team that had spent the majority of the season in either first or second place in the league had had a very good season.

First team awards: Batsmen of the year, Billy Barriball; bowler of the year, Rob Bone; captain’s player of the year, Charlie Barriball. Second team awards: batsman of the year, Andy Alford; bowler of the year, Clive Marais; all rounder of the year, Billy Barriball.
